Ayr 3-25: Obviously Chaninbar is the form horse here after his 15 len win last week and several pounds well-in even under a penalty. I don’t think the visors are an issue – they may work second time as well (as far as I know) but the distance factor gives some cause to oppose him, at least at the 7/2 early price. I make him 4/1 and am not so enthused – greed prevails as usual :-)
One possible in an otherwise stingy set of early prices is Bill’s Echo, the outsider at 25/1, 13/1 on my book. 3lbs lower than his last win at Stratford and just 2lbs below Chaninbar on Racing Post ratings, he has had one run on his return this year and may come on for that. Conditions suit and A C Whillans is a small operation going 1w 2l in the past fortnight, 20% chase wins at Ayr. The bet is on Bills Echo improving for that run and benefitting from weight and conditions.
