Cheltenham 3-20: the value here is Magical Legend; change of trainer and good prep race. Still 20/1 on my book but 50/1 morning prices.

Kicking myself for missing Ouzbeck yesterday – a definite pattern of changes which I have noted for furture reference. Likewise, Venetia William’s winner might possibly have been spotted, certainly at the price. This looks like hindsight, of course, but one is entitled to learn and if these results are not entirely random, then what are they due to??? One has to ‘diagnose’ the condition, so to speak.
I took 40/1 and see now that it has shortened massively to 16/1 at Labrokes and even 11/1 at Victor Chandler. That’s always reassuring though I am worried as to how everyone else has got onto it :-/
After the morning’s betting action there was little on course for this – opened 16s then out to 18. In the event though, a good race and a good bet – not a win but tracked leader (and eventual winner) for most of way until turning for home when not quite up to task in a typical Cheltenham hurdle, several battling in the final furlong; Magical Legend did well to come about 5th.
